Marie Briguglio has been a screen-writer/producer since 1994. Her extensive body of work, focusing mainly on socio-political and environmental issues, has won several awards including the Malta Creative Innovation Award (2014), the World Intellectual Property Organisation Award (2014), the EU Golden Star award for Active Citizenship (2005), the WWF Green Media Personality of the year (2003) as well as three Broadcasting Awards. Her productions have been aired in Malta (TVM), Italy (Rai), France (Arte) and Germany (RBB). Her latest work is an animated short illustrated by 10 year-olds, which eventually formed part of Malta’s successful bid to host the European Capital of Culture. She previously wrote “Tikka fuq Kollox” A little about everything, a series of 400 mini-docs for children and adults, broadcast on national television between 2005 and 2008. Earlier work included “Viva Malta”, a prime-time national television series (50*25’ episodes), “Caravaggio”, (7*6’ episodes) and “Bir-Rispett Kollu” With all due respect (45*45’ episodes). She has also written numerous educational shorts commissioned by environmental organisations. Marie obtained an MSc (Environmental Economics) from University College London and a Phd from the University of Stirling (Behavioural Science Centre). She worked in environmental policy and planning for over 15 years and is a lecturer at the University of Malta.
